The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose 1.4 cents Tuesday to $4.589, its highest amount since June 2.
The average price has risen 11 consecutive days, including nine-tenths of a cent Monday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.7 cents more than one week ago, 27.5 cents more than one month ago and 10 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.784 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price increased nine-tenths of a cent to $3.186. It is seven-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 4.4 cents more than one month ago and 2.1 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.83 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“While gas prices fell in more states than they rose last week, the West Coast continues to face challenges, with Oregon and Washington seeing some of the largest increases due to regional infrastructure issues,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said Monday.
“The good news is that the transition to cheaper winter gasoline begins tomorrow across most of the nation, and with improvements underway in the West Coast market, I expect that average gas prices will continue to decline in the weeks ahead in most states — assuming hurricane season remains quiet.”
