Downtown Riverside’s main amusement park will start celebrating the Halloween season Friday with the opening of “Castle Dark,” featuring an assortment of attractions intended to thrill and chill visitors.

Castle Park will operate Castle Dark every weekend until Nov. 1, generally from 7 p.m. to midnight, at 3500 Polk St.

The park typically operates mini golf, carnival rides and games throughout the year. But Castle Dark is only available leading up to Halloween.

This year’s themed entertainment includes “Feary Tales” and “Midnight Manor” mazes, as well as “The Endless Chapter” and “Outbreak” scare zones, where monsters and apparitions appear around every corner to keep thrill-seekers on their toes, according to the park.

There will additionally be live shows, dubbed “Echoes from the Grave,” showcasing “performances set to mesmerize audiences.”

“Families seeking more treats than scares may (experience) Día de los Muertos every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:30 p.m., Sept. 20 through Nov. 2,” the park stated. “The event celebrates Mexican and Latin American fall traditions with vibrant decorations, local performers, kid-friendly activities and trick-or-treating.”
