The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Los Angeles Dodgers will play in Southern California for the first time in 2015 Thursday night, facing each other at Angel Stadium to begin the three-game Freeway Series.
The teams will also play Friday at Angel Stadium and Saturday at Dodger Stadium.
The Angels will be testing and adjusting the screening process required under Major League Baseball’s new security guidelines at Thursday night’s and Friday’s games, according to Ray Daryabigi, the team’s guest experience and security manager.
All fans will be required to walk through metal detectors beginning with the team’s April 10 home opener against the American League champion Kansas City Royals, Daryabigi said.
Right-hander Matt Shoemaker is scheduled to be the Angels’ starting pitcher tonight. The Dodgers have not announced their starting pitcher.
The Angels have won the Freeway Series four of the past five seasons, including winning two of three games last season. The Angels lead the series that began in 1962, 63-48, with three games ending in ties.
