Recently retired soccer star Landon Donovan will throw the ceremonial first pitch Wednesday night before the Los Angeles Dodgers conclude their season-opening three-game series against the San Diego Padres at Dodger Stadium.
Former Dodger infielder Nomar Garciaparra, now an analyst on SportsNet LA, will take photos with fans from 6:45-7:10 p.m. in the Time Warner Cable left field pavilion.
U.S. Army Spc. Steven Hardy of Fresno will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game. Hardy served in Operation Nimbus I and II, assisting the Border Patrol in Arizona. He is currently with the Army Reserves and based in Fresno.
Auto gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and stadium gates at 5 p.m. for the 7:10 p.m. game, the last at Dodger Stadium until Monday.
