The potent upper-level ridge and weak-to-moderate offshore pressure gradients produced three more temperature records in Los Angeles County Thursday.
The 91-degree high at Woodland Hills broke the old record for this date of 89 set in 1971. The 86-degree high at UCLA broke the previous record of 85 set in 1988.

The other record was set in the northwest Los Angeles County community of Sandberg where the high of 71 broke the previous record of 68 set in 1971.
Today’s other highs included 89 in Chatsworth and Pasadena; 87 in downtown Los Angeles, Burbank, San Gabriel and Van Nuys; 86 in Hawthorne; 85 in Pomona; 83 in Redondo Beach and Torrance; and 80 at the Santa Monica Airport.
Temperatures are expected to be lower on Friday and Saturday as the ridge slides to the east and the offshore gradients weaken, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday’s forecast highs include 88 in Woodland Hills; 87 in Pasadena; 86 in San Gabriel; 85 in Burbank; 84 in downtown Los Angeles and 80 in Long Beach.
