A 3-year-old gelding injured in a race at Los Alamitos last week has died, state horse racing officials reported.
He’za Ten was taken off the track by ambulance after suffering an injury in the fourth race on March 8, according to the official race chart. He died on March 14, according to the California Horse Racing Board.
“The 3-year-old gelding He’za Ten was injured during the running of the fourth race at Los Alamitos on March 8. He underwent surgery at the Santa Anita clinic, then he was sent for recovery to a veterinary clinic in Chino. He died there March 14,” CHRB spokesman Mike Marten told City News Service.
He’za Ten had 10 races in his career, all at Los Alamitos and Santa Anita, and no top-3 finishes.
He is the fourth horse to die from a racing or training injury at the Cypress track this year.
