Two more racehorses died at Los Alamitos Race Course over the weekend, state horse racing officials reported Tuesday.
Mr. Dreamcycle, a 4-year-old gelding, suffered a fatal injury in Saturday’s second race.
“Mr. Dreamcycle was injured shortly after leaving the gate in the second race Saturday night at Los Alamitos. He was vanned off the track and later euthanized due to his injury, the nature of which will be determined by postmortem examination,” Mike Marten, public information officer for the California Horse Racing Board, told City News Service on Tuesday.
The 3-year-old filly Expect Love died after suffering a training injury on Sunday, according to the CHRB. Her last race was June 20 at Los Alamitos.
“Expect Love was injured while galloping during morning training Sunday at Los Alamitos, requiring euthanasia,” Marten told CNS.
Ten horses have now died from racing or training injuries at the Cypress track this year.
