One person was killed and three others were injured when a motorist crashed a vehicle into a tree in Castaic, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.

CHP officers responded at 4:30 p.m. Monday to Hasley Canyon Road and Sloan Canyon Road, where they found the occupants trapped inside the vehicle after it swerved off the road, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived and pronounced one person dead the scene. Paramedics took the remaining victims to a hospital in unknown conditions, according to reports from the scene.

The dead person’s name, gender and age were not immediately known.
