People in Montebello who got tickets on Columbus Day for parking in areas scheduled for street sweeping can throw the citations in the trash, officials announced Tuesday.

The city’s website had erroneously announced street sweeping citations would not be issued Monday, even though street sweeping was scheduled and actually did take place, according to Montebello police.

“This was an error on the webpage and therefore the citations issued for parking during restricted times/days, specifically street sweeping days/hours, on October 12, 2015, are hereby dismissed in the interest of justice,” according to the police department.

All other parking tickets issued in the city on Monday remain valid and must be paid on time to avoid additional penalties, police said.
