A 26-year-old convicted sex offender made his initial court appearance Thursday in Orange County Superior Court on charges of committing lewd acts with a 15-year-old girl he was allegedly prostituting from behind bars.
Antonio Romano Caserta was charged in a Nov. 19 arrest warrant with human trafficking of an underage girl as well as pandering with a minor younger than 16, according to court records. He was also charged with 11 counts of lewd acts on a child 15 years old, three counts of statutory rape, and one count each of dissuading a witness by force and inducing a minor to buy or sell Ecstasy, all felonies.
Caserta pleaded guilty Nov. 13 of last year to statutory rape, sexual penetration by a foreign object with a victim younger than 16 and inducing a minor to buy or sell a controlled substance, all felonies, and was immediately sentenced to three years in prison, according to court records.
Caserta had sex with two underage girls before last year’s plea, which is what landed him in prison, according to Huntington Beach Police Officer Jennifer Marlatt. Caserta kept in touch with one of them by phone while behind bars, Marlatt added.
The new charges relate to what the inmate allegedly “had her commit while talking to her on the phone,” Marlatt said.
Caserta was ordered to return to court for his arraignment Dec. 18.
