Moreno Valley officials Monday asked residents interested in having “military appreciation banners and pavers” recognizing the service of loved ones included in the city’s annual Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11 to submit applications in the next three weeks.

“The program recognizes Moreno Valley military men and women who have served in the past or are currently serving, whether defending the homefront or serving overseas,” according to a statement by the Parks & Community Services Department.

“In addition to supporting our military members, the city’s Military Appreciation Banners and Pavers program also helps promote patriotism and pride throughout our community.”

Personalized banners will be placed on light poles lining city streets, while pavers, which are inscribed bricks, will be laid around the Veterans’ Memorial at the Civic Center Plaza, officials said.

The pavers contain names of veterans or active-duty personnel and their service branch.

Banners require a $100 fee, while pavers are $200, according to the city.

More information about the memorial, as well as applications for banners and pavers, can be found at www.moval.org/community/monument.shtml.
