Four people were injured, one critically, when a vehicle crashed into a supermarket sign in Riverside, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported at 10:41 p.m. Sunday in the 6100 block of Arlington Avenue, according to Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Tony Perna.
Arriving firefighters found the vehicle entangled with a Stater Bros. sign and four people trapped inside, Perna said. Witnesses reported seeing one person leaving the crash scene.
“The patients were extricated using the jaws of life,” he said. “The driver of the vehicle was in critical condition and the other three were in moderate condition.”
Both the Stater Bros. sign and a nearby light standard were damaged in the crash, Perna said.
