A two-car collision triggered a fire that spread to a nearby home in Desert Hot Springs Friday, displacing five people but causing no injuries.
The crash was reported at 1:55 p.m. in the 13000 block of Quinta Way, near Hacienda Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
More than 40 firefighters from multiple agencies were sent to battle the blaze, which was initially reported to have spread to two nearby homes. The fire was contained at 3:10 p.m. to one of the cars involved, along with one structure, fire officials said.
Personnel with the American Red Cross were sent to assist three adults and two children displaced due to the fire.
