A trucker escaped injury Thursday when a big rig tipped over on Interstate 10 about 50 miles east of Indio, blocking both westbound lanes for several hours.
The solo-vehicle crash was reported about 4:45 a.m. east of Eagle Mountain Road near Desert Center, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said other big rigs had stopped in the middle of the roadway near the crash and blocked the shoulders, in an attempt to stop all traffic.
The roadway was fully open again by 9:30 a.m., the CHP said.
