A firefighter and a resident were injured Wednesday in a Palm Springs house fire.

The blaze was reported at 1:54 p.m. in the 4800 block of Birdie Way, according to Palm Springs Fire Department Capt. Nathan Gunkel. The fire was knocked down by 2:41 p.m., he said.

A resident of the home suffered burns, and a firefighter suffered unspecified injuries while fighting the blaze, he said. Both were transported to an area hospital, but the severity of their injuries was unclear.

There was no immediate word on what sparked the blaze.
