A Palm Springs estate once owned by the late Sonny Bono has gone on the market, listed at just shy of $5 million.
The estate at 294 W. Crestview Drive is located in the Mesa neighborhood at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains.
Constructed in 1940 by the Gillette razor family, the 1.5-acre gated property features a six-bedroom, 6,648-square-foot main house and two guest houses, along with a tennis court, swimming pool and other amenities.
“One of those rare finds, the `Sonny Bono Estate’ perfectly exemplifies the quintessential charm and beauty that people seek in south Palm Springs,” listing agent Patrick Jordan said. “It’s rare to find this type of privacy on a spacious estate.”
The property was once home to Sonny Bono, who gained fame performing alongside then-wife Cher, and his second wife Mary. Bono was the mayor of Palm Springs from 1988 to 1992, and was elected to Congress in 1995. He represented the 44th Congressional District until he death in a skiing accident near Lake Tahoe in 1998.
Mary Bono was first elected to Congress to replace her late husband, and served Palm Springs and most of central and eastern Riverside County until 2013.
