Unwanted chemicals, motor oil and other hazardous waste can be discarded at La Quinta City Hall Saturday for free.
A Riverside County Department of Waste Resources crew will accept household chemicals, including bottles of cleansers and insect repellent, as well as paints, batteries, computers, fluorescent lightbulbs and medications, among other items.
The event will be held in the parking lot on the south side of City Hall, 78495 Calle Tampico, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents will be asked to wear face coverings and remain in their cars when they drive up to the site, and have their trunks unlocked and ready for attendants to access. County workers will not reach inside a vehicle cabin or open doors to retrieve items.
