With a slight chance of rain Thursday night and Friday, Glendora city officials raised the alert level Wednesday for residents living below the Colby Fire burn area.
The Yellow alert status requires residents in the area to remove vehicles, trash bins and other obstructions from streets to ensure emergency access to the area and prevent damage from possible flooding.
City officials noted that while the forecast only calls for light rain, there is always a chance a sudden thunderstorm could develop, raising the concern of flooding.
According to the National Weather Service, a storm system will move into the area Thursday night and Friday.
“It really is not too dynamic a storm and it does not look like it will have much moisture to work with but it will be strong enough to bring a slight (chance) of a shower to the entire area with the best (chance) over the (Ventura) mountains as well as the San Gabriel Valley,” according to the NWS.
Skies are expected to clear by Friday afternoon, forecasters said.
