According to the county Office of Emergency Management, the assistance center will be in the gymnasium of Joe Walker Middle School, 5632 West Avenue L- 8, and will be operational on the following days and times:
— Friday, from noon to 6 p.m.;
— Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and
— Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Oct. 15, a severe storm caused flash floods that led to road closures and damage to many private homes and businesses in the Antelope Valley, particularly in the areas of Lake Elizabeth, Lake Hughes, Leona Valley, Green Valley, and the cities of Lancaster and Palmdale.
“Many people experienced damage to their personal properties and businesses,” said Emily Montanez of the county Office of Emergency Management.
“(The) local assistance center serves as a one-stop shop, where individuals, families and business owners can obtain information on services and assistance from government agencies, utility companies and nonprofits,” Montanez said.
