A magnitude-3.4 earthquake occurred near San Fernando Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The small temblor struck at 2:58 a.m. at a depth of about 1.3 miles, its epicenter 3 miles north-northwest of San Fernando and 5 miles southeast of Santa Clarita, according to a USGS computer-generated report.
