Large rocks, dirt and debris likely loosened by last week’s rainstorm fell onto Topanga Canyon Boulevard Monday, temporarily shutting down the roadway, authorities said.

The slide was reported at 12:14 a.m. on South Topanga Canyon Boulevard at Fernwood Pacific Drive, the California Highway Patrol said.

Although the rocks blocked the southbound side, a SigAlert shut down both sides of the roadway in the area so Caltrans crews could clear the way, the CHP said.

The rocks and debris were probably loosened by Thursday’s rain, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said.
