A high pressure system will start driving up temperatures across much of the region starting Thursday, with the heat continuing into Mother’s Day weekend.
The warm weather is expected to peak on Friday and Saturday, “when warmer valleys will be pushing 100 and inland coastal areas more than five miles from the beach will be in the low to mid 80s,” according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters said heat advisories might be issued in some areas due to the rising temperatures, most likely in areas such as the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.
Conditions will be milder along the coast, thanks to the marine layer, according to the NWS.
Temperatures are expected to drop off beginning Sunday and continuing into Tuesday. High temperatures by Tuesday are expected to be back in the 60s for most of the region, about 4 to 8 degrees below normal.
