[16:9 Featured] Power Lines

About 2,500 customers in South Los Angeles were blacked out Saturday from downed power lines in the area, a utility spokeswoman said.

It was not immediately known what caused the downed power lines. The outage occurred about 8:30 a.m., said Kim Hughes of the Department of Water and Power.

Hughes would not give an approximate area of the outage, but said it was “90th Street on the north and 104th on the south.”

An estimated time for complete restoration was not immediately known, she said.
