A former boyfriend of a mother of two who was stabbed to death in her Corona home was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into Riverside County jail, where he’s being held in lieu of $3 million bail, police said Friday.

Mark Aaron Brierley, 42, of Jurupa Valley was taken into custody Thursday following a months-long investigation into the slaying of 46-year-old Sharmon Intili.

Brierley, who had been identified as a person of interest early on, was picked up by detectives as he left work around 4 p.m., Corona police Sgt. Jason Perez said.

The arrest was the result of forensic analysis and other investigative methods that began immediately after Intili’s November 2016 killing, according to Perez.

Intili’s 17-year-old daughter found the victim unconscious and suffering from multiple stab wounds in their residence in the 1000 block of Grand Boulevard on the evening of Nov. 23. The girl called 911, and Corona Fire Department paramedics arrived moments later, pronouncing Intili dead at the scene.

“During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Intili had ended a relationship with the ex-boyfriend a few weeks before her violent death,” Detective John Samano said in December.

“According to friends and co-workers, Sharmon believed she was being stalked by her ex. She was fearful of him to the extent that she had a family friend assist her with changing the locks to the residence.”

FBI agents, Riverside County and San Bernardino County sheriff’s detectives took part in the investigation, Perez said.
