A fire in a big rig spread to about a half-acre of brush Thursday near the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway in the Tujunga area.

The fire was reported shortly before 10 a.m. Thursdy near La Tuna Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters stopped the forward progress of the flames in about half an hour, the LAFD reported.

Westbound freeway lanes were blocked in the area while firefighters worked to mop up hot spots in the brush and capture any fuel runoff from the truck.
