The films “Interstellar” and “Mad Max: Fury Road” and the television shows “The Newsroom” and “The Simpsons” were among the nominees announced Wednesday for the 25th annual Environmental Media Awards.

The awards, presented by the Environmental Media Association, honor productions that “increase public awareness of environmental issues and inspire green conscious responsibility.”

“Interstellar” and “Mad Max” were nominated in the feature film category along with Disney’s “Disneynature Monkey Kingdom.”

“The Newsroom” and “The Blacklist” were nominated in the television drama category. Television comedy nods went to “Bob’s Burgers,” “The Simpsons” and “Cristela.”

Nominations were also announced for documentary films, reality television, children’s television and digital shorts.

The awards will be presented Oct. 24 at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank.

“Over the past 25 years of this award show, it never ceases to amaze us of all the great work that has been done to further highlight the achievements of those who lead by example through environmentally conscious programming, filmmaking and production,” said Debbie Levin, president of the EMA. “We are thrilled to recognize such socially active, mindful and inspirational individuals, organizations and programming this year.”
