Rachel Maddow is back behind the anchor desk at MSNBC after a mysterious 10-day absence, but a lot of questions still weren’t answered about what happened.

“I am back!” she told viewers, even though she shared no details of what apparently was some kind of illness.

She thanked her fill-in hosts, colleagues, viewers and bosses. “I’m OK,” she said Tuesday, but indicated she was “not totally well … like 90 percent of the way back.”

MSNBC franchise player Maddow has been out sick at least 10 days, and fans of the Liberal Lion were getting antsy, if not outright panicky before her return.

“I am really getting concerned and I’m not alone. She has been ‘under the weather’ for almost a week now and she hasn’t tweeted either during this time,” wrote Daily Kos blogger LibbyD. “Now I am not quick to jump to conclusions but this thought crossed my mind before she was even sick.

“To think she is on the Kremlin’s radar is not absurd. Her journalism is remarkable and I think she’s getting closer and closer to the truth. We all know what Putin does to his critics and opposition leaders. Will he go as far to do something to Rachel?”

Terror on Twitter (where Maddow hasn’t tweeted for three days):

  • “Maddow is still sick?? Pneumonia or Polonium?”
  • “Where the heck is Rachel?? She is never sick this long. Seriously.”
  • “What the hell is actually wrong with Rachel? She’s been sick since May 26th.”
  • “How do you know you’re watching too much msnbc? Your 10 year old daughter is very upset that maddow is still sick.”

A CNN newsletter said Monday night: “She last hosted on MSNBC on Thursday, May 25. Ari Melber filled in on the first night and again three times last week. Joy Reid filled in once last week and again on Monday night. No word on what Maddow’s specific ailment is, but she called in to the Melber-led show on Friday.”
