Travelers planning to catch flights at Los Angeles International Airport this month should plan for construction-related delays resulting from road repair work scheduled to begin Monday, officials said Thursday.

The upper-level departure level roadway is slated to undergo major repair work for deteriorating concrete, surface cracks and other wear-and-tear, part of a $32.4 million project that will be completed in 2016.

The road will remain in use throughout construction, but some lanes may be closed at night, restricting and slowing traffic around the airport, according to officials at Los Angeles World Airports.

This phase of the project is expected to be completed just before Thanksgiving, officials said.

LAX spokeswoman Nancy Castles noted that passengers can get dropped off at the lower arrivals level if it does not appear busy, then take elevators or escalators to the departure level.

Weeknight construction work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will last from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Work beginning Fridays and Saturdays will last from 11 p.m. to 1 p.m. the next day.
