The LA Lakers will participate Thursday in the 2015 Special Olympics World Games being held in the Southland.

An estimated 100 Laker staff members will watch basketball games at Galen Center near USC including

The Special Olympics competition will conclude Thursday in two sports, open water swimming off Alamitos Beach in Long Beach and roller skating at the LA Convention Center. Medal events in badminton, powerlifting, table tennis, equestrian sports, track and field bowling, judo, tennis and the Italian sport of bocce will be held in LA and cycling and kayaking in Long Beach.

Competition will continue through Saturday. The closing ceremony is Sunday at the LA Memorial Coliseum.
