Work to stripe lanes of the Orange (57) Freeway in Brea and install k-rails as part of the Lambert Interchange Improvements Project will require ramp and lane closures over a four night period beginning Monday.
The No. 4 and 5 lanes of the northbound Orange Freeway from Imperial Highway to Tonner Canyon and Brea Canyon roads and the Lambert Road on-ramp to the freeway will be closed Monday through Thursday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., according to Caltrans.
The No. 1 lane of eastbound Lambert Road from State College Boulevard to Pointe Drive will be closed Wednesday and Thursday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., Caltrans said.
“The purpose of this project is to provide additional capacity and improve the overall operational performance of the Lambert Road interchange and enable future construction of the SR-57 Northbound Truck Climbing Lane between Lambert Road and the Orange and Los Angeles County line,” Caltrans said in a statement.
According to Caltrans, the project involves:
— Reconfiguring of ramps including construction of a loop on-ramp at the south-east quadrant;
— Modify the northbound and southbound ramps;
— Adding 0.4 miles of auxiliary lanes on southbound mainlines;
— Widen Lambert Road and also lower the profile to provide 15-foot standard vertical clearance for the Lambert Road under-crossing;
— Widening the northbound Lambert Road under-crossing bridge to accommodate the future truck-climbing lane project.
