A man shot to death in East Los Angeles was publicly identified Saturday.

Daniel Rivera, 30, was an East Los Angeles resident, according to the coroner’s office.

The shooting was reported at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Clela Avenue, near Olympic Boulevard, said Deputy Eric Ortiz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“Upon arrival, deputies observed the victim lying in the driveway of the location suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso,” Ortiz said. The man now identified as Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Shortly after, deputies located a second victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso,” he said. “The second victim was transported to a local hospital and his condition is serious, but stable at this time.”

Homicide detectives collected evidence at the scene, Ortiz said.

No suspect information was released.

Anyone with information was asked to call homicide detectives at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
