Police responding to a report of two “vagrants” who were allegedly damaging property in Palm Springs, with one alleged to have pulled out a gun, arrested one suspect Tuesday on suspicion of drug, weapon and probation violations.
Officers initially responded shortly before 10 a.m. to reports of “vagrant subjects” damaging a business property in the area of Vista Chino and Sunrise, Lt. Gustavo Araiza of the Palm Springs Police Department told City News Service. A manager at the business claimed that one of the suspects pulled out a firearm when they were asked to leave.
Police eventually found and arrested 32-year-old Kenneth Gardner near Avenida Caballeros on a separate, existing warrant, according to Araiza. Officers were not able to locate the firearm that was alleged to have been displayed.
The suspect was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor violations of allegedly exhibiting a deadly weapon and possession of illegal drug paraphernalia, as well as a felony probation violation. He was being held at the John Benoit Detention Center.
Gardner was tentatively scheduled to appear in court Thursday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
