Following efforts from multiple fire companies, a fire in a sanitation truck with compressed natural gas tanks above it was fully extinguished Wednesday in west Los Angeles.
The fire was reported just before 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 2000 block of South Granville Avenue, two blocks west of Barrington Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
More than 40 firefighters were able to knock down flames engulfing the truck in a yard, safely discharging the four CNG tanks above it, the department said.
The operation took about 90 minutes and fire crews remained on the scene afterward for overhaul, the LAFD stated.
No injuries were reported.
