A driver wanted for an unspecified felony led police on a brief chase Friday before crashing into another vehicle in San Pedro, injuring six people.

The pursuit began at 12:36 p.m. Friday at 19th Street and Pacific Avenue and ended seconds later in a crash near that location, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Six people were injured, including two in serious condition, who were taken to hospitals by ambulance, the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Lyndsey Lantz said.

The seriously injured were a 25-year-old man and 35-year-old woman, Lantz said. Four patients were assessed for injuries at the scene and declined to be taken to hospitals by paramedics, who required hydraulic tools to get some patients out of vehicles.

LAPD spokesman Officer Drake Madison told City News Service the driver sustained injuries, was taken into custody, and later taken to a hospital for treatment.
