A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing a fatal hit-and-run accident in Indio, authorities said.
The suspect, who was not identified, was taken into custody at 12:59 p.m. Tuesday and booked into the Indio Juvenile Hall on suspicion of a felony hit-and-run.
The crash was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday on Golf Center Parkway, north of Avenue 45, according to the Indio Police Department.
Police said a witness called 911 after finding an unresponsive woman lying in the roadway. The victim sustained “extensive injuries” and was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the department stated.
