Two men who were killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Hyde Park that also left a child injured were identified by county authorities Monday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the male driver and a male passenger of one of the vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported about 10:45 a.m. Friday in the 7700 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, near South Victoria Avenue.
One victim was identified as Sergio Hill, 32, and the other as Alvaro Castillo Jr., 35. Both died of blunt force injuries, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
The older man’s father told reporters his son and his son’s friend were killed while the injured child was his granddaughter.
The girl was seriously injured and taken to a hospital, police said.
According to the LAPD, the victims were in a Toyota Camry that was in the midst of a left turn from Crenshaw Boulevard to westbound 78th Street when the car was broadsided by a BMW headed north on Crenshaw.
A witness told KTLA5 he saw the BMW speeding along with a Tesla sedan.
The driver of the Tesla was also taken to a hospital, according to a report from the scene, but it was unclear if that individual was cited or arrested.
