A 28-year-old man suspected of driving under the influence of a controlled substance when his vehicle struck and critically injured a 15-year-old skateboarder in Orange is free on bond Sunday.
The boy, who was not identified, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash at about 2:45 p.m. Friday on Wanda Road just north of Katella Avenue, according to Orange Police Lt. Fred Lopez.
Frederick Ulloa of Anaheim was driving a Chevrolet van southbound on Wanda Road when it allegedly struck the boy as he crossed the street, Lopez said.
Ulloa remained at the scene after the crash and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an unspecified controlled substance, while the boy was hospitalized in critical condition, according to the lieutenant.
The Orange County Register reported the victim was a 15-year-old skateboarder.
