Authorities Thursday identified a man who was killed in an apparent gang shooting while driving in Norwalk.

Michael Pina, 47, of Norwalk died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 16500 block of Horst Avenue, according to the coroner’s office and the sheriff’s department.

Deputy Ryan Rouzan of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said Pina was driving north on Horst Avenue from 166th Street when someone fired several shots into his vehicle.

“It is unknown if the suspect was on foot or in a vehicle,” Rouzan said.  “The incident is believed to be gang-related.”  No suspect description was released.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
