U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Cathrina Davis will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game Saturday evening as the Los Angeles Dodgers play host to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium.
Davis enlisted in 2008 as a logistics planner. She has served on multiple deployments including to Kuwait, Qatar, Turkey and was a member one of the first units to respond to Operation Inherent Resolve against the Islamic State group.
Davis is now assigned to the 369th Recruiting Squadron in Los Angeles where she serves as a recruiter.
Davis’ awards include multiple achievement medals and commendation medals.
A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Tony Buehler, the father of Dodger pitcher Walker Buehler in connection with the Dodgers’ giveaway of Buehler bobbleheads.
The elder Buehler is a senior vice president with Bank of America, responsible for reviewing, analyzing and approving credit for business deals where the bank is lending more than $5 million to nonprofit organizations and health care companies.
A first pitch will also be thrown by Luis Reyes, director of training for Southern California Training Centers, which provides training services for union members and is a client of the elder Buehler.
The national anthem will be sung by Walker Buehler’s 11-year-old sister Bella.
Walker Buehler is scheduled to pitch for the first time in the 2019 season in Sunday’s series finale against the Diamondbacks.
On Sunday, the Dodgers will allow children 14 years old and under to run the bases following the game for the first time this season. The Dodgers allow children 14 and under to run the bases following most Sunday day games.
The Dodgers will conduct the first of three youth baseball and softball pregame parades Sunday.
