A glider went down Monday on the south edge of Perris Valley Airport, injuring the pilot but not disrupting operations at the airport.

The crash was reported about 1:20 p.m. in the area of Goetz and Mapes roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters reached the location within a few minutes and discovered that the glider had impacted the ground, but it was unclear if it was a hard landing or a nose-dive into the surface, according to the agency.

The pilot suffered unspecified non-life-threatening injuries and required treatment at the scene, though officials could not immediately confirm whether he needed to be taken to a hospital.

Circumstances behind the crash were under investigation by the sheriff’s department.

According to Skydive Perris, the accident did not affect flights in and out of the airport.
