American Express Thursday announced that $1 million from the 2022 PGA Tour tournament was donated to 37 nonprofit organizations that support the Coachella Valley.

The donations were made through the tournament’s new charitable foundation, Impact Through Golf, to organizations that support the Coachella Valley in health and wellness, youth sports, family support, education, and homelessness, according to a statement from American Express.

“We’re committed to backing our communities and continuing the longstanding legacy of supporting the Coachella Valley through the Impact Through Golf foundation and by enhancing the support of critical local organizations in the community,” said Shiz Suzuki, vice president of Global Brand Sponsorships and Experiential Marketing at American Express.

The Alzheimer’s Association of the Coachella Valley, Friends of the Desert Mountains, several Boys and Girls Clubs in the Coachella Valley, the Desert Cancer Foundation, THINK Together, Martha’s Village and Kitchen, Tools for Friday, and the Bianca Rae Foundation were among the recipients of the funds.

“We are thankful for the tremendous partnership with American Express as our title sponsor of this historic PGA TOUR event,” according to Frank Marzano, chairman of the Impact Through Golf foundation. “Their commitment to supporting the local community is unwavering.”
