A 30-year-old man was fatally shot in the Valley Glen section of the San Fernando Valley before sunrise Tuesday.

Officers responded to the 12100 block of Califa Street, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday to a report of shots fired, where a man was lying on the ground next to an apartment building with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The victim lived in Panorama City. His name was withheld, pending the notification of next of kin.
