Firefighters put out a vehicle fire after a fuel tanker truck and a pickup collided Saturday in Riverside.

The crash was reported at 1 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Streeter and Arlington avenues, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters found both vehicles on fire, with the pickup under the fuel tanker trailer. All occupants had escaped the vehicles before help arrived.

The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and, after receiving medical clearance, was arrested for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol, police said.

The driver of the fuel tanker was uninjured.

The fire was knocked down quickly. The fuel tanker was empty and no gasoline was released, according to the fire department.

Streeter Avenue was closed between Arlington and Granada avenues while firefighters cleared the area.
