An inmate at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside has died after experiencing a medical emergency, authorities announced Sunday.
Deputies at the detention center responded Friday to a report of the 38-year-old inmate experiencing a medical emergency inside a holding cell, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. They began administering medical aid along with custody staff and jail medical personnel, sheriff’s officials said.
The inmate, identified as Brian Waterman, was subsequently rushed to a hospital by paramedics. On Saturday, his health continued to decline and he was pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities said.
Investigators from the sheriff’s Corrections Central Investigations Bureau and Coroner’s Bureau assumed the investigation and found no signs of foul play, but the investigation was still ongoing.
Waterman’s family was notified of his death.
Anyone with additional information about the death was encouraged to contact investigator Brett Devine at 951-955-7019.
