At least two people were killed Sunday morning at a fiery, single-vehicle crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 2:45 a.m. on the northbound freeway near the Calzona Street offramp, where a black SUV struck the right shoulder wall and then caught fire, the California Highway Patrol reported.
At least two people were pronounced dead at the scene and third may be in grave condition at a hospital, the CHP said.
A Sigalert was issued at 3:04 a.m. closing the Calzona Street offramp for at least three hours. That Sigalert remains in effect.
A representative from the County Medical Examiner’s office was called to the location at 3:14 a.m.
