A woman was killed Saturday after she allegedly jumped off the McCall Boulevard overcrossing onto the southbound Escondido (15) Freeway in Menifee.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a pedestrian who had intentionally jumped off the overcrossing around 1:50 p.m. Saturday, according to the CHP. They located the person and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the jumper landed on a white Hyundai Accent traveling about 80 miles per hour and being driven by a 45-year-old Temecula woman. After striking the car, the woman was hit by a gray Lexus RX 500 driven by a 53-year-old Winchester man directly behind the car. He was doing about 55 to 60 miles per hour.
The Hyundai driver suffered minor injuries, while the Lexus driver was uninjured, according to the CHP.
Two lanes were closed by the CHP for the investigation.
