A brush fire that broke out Friday just south of Highway 74 in Valle Vista burned two acres and threatened several properties before it was stopped.

The non-injury “Acacia Fire” was reported at 12:50 p.m. Friday in the 44100 block of Acacia Avenue, near First Street, less than a quarter-mile south of the highway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate through medium brush, including palm trees, in the direction of residences on the perimeter of a field.

Firefighters quickly established protective lines and prevented the flames from reaching the properties.

No Cal Fire aircraft were requested from nearby Hemet-Ryan Airport.

The brusher’s forward rate of spread was stopped at 1:30 p.m., and it was fully contained just after 2 p.m., according to officials at the scene.

Crews were expected to finish mopping up no later than 4 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
