Firefighters Saturday contained a well-involved fire to a commercial vehicle trailer on Interstate 10 in Mecca that contained a possible hazardous material, authorities said.

The hazardous material was determined to be non-flammable gases and organic chemicals that reacted to water. No injuries were reported, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched about 2:45 a.m. to westbound Interstate 10 near the Cactus City Rest Stop, in Mecca.

The fire was contained about 7 a.m. and that portion of the freeway will be closed for approximately two to three hours.
