Local business owners, in partnership with NBC Palm Springs, came together Friday for a community fundraiser aimed at helping residents and businesses affected by Saturday’s deadly bombing at a Palm Springs fertility clinic.

Many of those impacted are now facing costly repairs that may not be covered by insurance.

“Every dollar you donate will be meticulously allocated to those most in need, directly impacting their ability to recover and rebuild,” Mayor Ron deHarte said in a statement.

The event began at 7 a.m. Friday at Boozehounds, located at 2080 N. Palm Canyon Drive, and will continue through 7 p.m., organizers said.

Participants include Bob Smiland of Desert Hand Car Wash, Willie Rhine of 849 Restaurant and Lounge, Bill Sanderson of Townie Bagels, Gregory Goodman of My Little Flower Shop and Liz Ostoich of Tac/Quila restaurant

NBC Palm Springs was hosting a drive-thru donation site, where residents can either drive or walk up to contribute.

The fundraiser supports the Rebuild Program, an independent effort not affiliated with the city, designed to assist with home and property repairs for those experiencing significant window and structural damage that may not be covered by insurance.

To qualify for reimbursement, applicants must provide copies of paid invoices, before-and-after photos, receipts and canceled checks.

The Desert Business Association and Greater Palm Springs Pride will distribute the funds following guidelines based on the city’s Facade Improvement Program.

Matching grants of up to 50% of repair costs may be awarded.
