A woman has tentatively settled her lawsuit against a Santa Fe Springs transportation company in which she alleged she was wrongfully terminated in 2024 from her job as freight operations manager in retaliation for complaining about sexual harassment by male managers.
Eugenia Delaveri also contended in her Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit that one of the managers at XPO Logistics Freight Inc. told her the only reason the plaintiff of Greek and Russian background was hired was to fill the company’s gender diversity requirements. On Thursday, Delaveri’s attorneys filed court papers with Judge Peter A. Hernandez notifying him of a conditional resolution in the case with the expectation that a request for dismissal will be filed by Nov. 1. No terms were divulged.
In their previous court papers, XPO lawyers denied Delaveri’s allegations and said any wrongful conduct alleged by the plaintiff was warranted due to “business necessity.”
Delaveri, 42, of Fullerton was hired in January 2022 as a freight operations manager and her supervisor told the plaintiff that she was employed only to satisfy the company’s gender diversity requirements, the suit stated. Throughout Delaveri’s employment, the same boss frequently stared at the plaintiff’s body, made sexual comments about her appearance and made unwelcome physical contact with her, the suit filed Jan. 30 stated.
The supervisor gave special treatment to a female customer service representative with whom he was in a romantic relationship, often ignoring her tardiness while giving her training he denied to Delaveri, the suit stated. Delaveri complained about the conduct of the supervisor and another boss to a senior service manager and asked for new trainers, but nothing was done and the alleged harassment continued, the suit stated.
Delaveri was fired for alleged insubordination in April 2024, according to the suit, which further stated that she has suffered lost wages and emotional distress since losing her job.
